Prof. Dr. Brigitte Biehl holds keynote speech on techno music in Istanbul
Creative exchange on management in the creative industries and the arts world at Bilgi University's Santral campus, a cultural heritage site and former power station.
Professor Dr. Brigitte Biehl, director of studies of the international B.A. Creative Industries Management, has currently visited Bilgi University in Istanbul for a series of seminars and has also delivered a keynote speech on “Creative City traditions: Techno Music in Berlin and its effects on the creative scene”.
The speech was based on Prof. Dr. Biehl's own research on the music scene and artistic activity such as DJing, which she links to the broader developments in the creative industries. The topic of her speech also reflects the study programmes at hdpk, which have a focus on different kinds of music including electronic music.
At Bilgi, the speech was part of the "Istanbul Bilgi University Faculty of Communication Festival Project 05" with the theme "Anonymous". The project includes an art exhibition, installations and site-specific performances. The location is Bilgi’s Campus “Santral”, a cultural heritage site and former power station, which is a creative hub buzzing of energy nowadays. The cooperation was facilitated by Associate Professor Dr. Gökçe Dervişoğlu Okandan, Assistant Professor Dr. Mesrure Melis Bilgin and Dr. Esra Yıldız from Bilgi as academics from both institutions share similar research interests on management in the creative industries and the arts world.
The Turkish university is one of hdpk's Erasmus partners and a popular destination for exchange students from Berlin.
