Designing an online job platform
Students deliver creative project research for Media:net
The Project Management module in summer semester 2018 provided students of the Creative Industry Management (BA) programme with the opportunity to deliver a project for one of the most influential organizations in Berlin’s creative industry: media:net berlinbrandenburg e.V. . It is one of the biggest and most successful regional networks of the media and digital economy in Germany.
Their Chief Executive, Andrea Peters, set students the challenge of generating ideas for the recruitment activities, which media:net is seeking to provide to its member organizations. Students responded to this challenge by proposing to research cutting-edge ideas for the design of an online job platform that would enhance media:net’s online presence. Over the course of three months, students self-organized themselves into four teams: Research, Development, Marketing and Finance. Within this project-based structure, students delivered a competitor analysis, a survey of prospective users, a marketing plan, mock ups of the online job platform, and several financial scenarios.
The research was presented to the client at the end of the term.
The module, led by Professor Svenja Tams, guided students through the process – facilitating the process of idea generation, introducing key concepts of project management, creating a space for hands-on collaborative work, and enabling collective and individual reflection and learning about experiences.
