Studienabschlussstipendium (Conclusion of Studies Grant) for International Students at the hdpk
Using funds from Germany’s Federal Foreign Office, the German Academic Exchange Service (Deutsche Akademische Austausch Dienst, DAAD) offers universities a combined grants and support programme, known as STIBET. Within this, funds are made available to universities for the awarding of study grants and for providing support and guidance to foreign students; assistance is also given to selected innovative, individual projects that work towards developing collaboration between local support-orientated bodies.
As part of this programme, the hdpk issues two graduation scholarships (Studienabschlussstipendium), each constituting monthly payments of €250, running for six months (total €1500). In return, recipients are expected to involve themselves in activities that benefit other international students – for example, serving as a mentor and contact person for new students, organising events, and so on.
Who can apply?
The grants are solely for foreign students; specifically, students who are not German citizens and did not qualify for university entrance as a result of study either within Germany or at a German school abroad.
Applicants must be in the final stage of their studies (6th or 7th Fachsemester), and must be finishing their course by March of the same year at the latest.
What documentation must be provided?
A completed application form.
A one-page covering letter describing your reasons for applying, outlining what you could offer as a mentor for international students at the hdpk. (If the grant will be used to support the completion of a BA thesis, also include a brief outline of the thesis.)
A current academic transcript, showing the marks you have achieved so far during your study at the hdpk
