Babylon Berlin swept the board at Deutscher Filmpreis 2018
In the end the co production of ARD and Sky reached out for even four different categories and took the award home, including the prize for 'Best Music', whose success was also shared by Nikko Weidemann, lecturer in songwriting at SRH Hochschule der populären Künste Berlin.
Next to blockbuster show '4 Blocks' ,which started in Germany in 2017, the TV series 'Babylon Berlin' was one of the big winners of this years award show. Besides 'Best Drama' , 'Best Music' and 'Best Camera' the serial, which is taking place in Berlin of the 20ies, also convinced the jury in the category 'Best Art Direction'.
One of the leading roles in reaching this amazing success by winning the category 'Best Music' was taken on by hdpk docent Nikko Weidemann. His enrolement as Onscreen Music Supervisor was not only supervising the musicians being seen on screen, but also reaching out for and selecting them in advance.
In addition he contributed several compostions in cooperation with his partner Mario Kamien, as the opening theme 'Ashes to Dust'.
