
We at hdpk are committed to international exchange, both when it comes to our students and to our teaching staff. Since 2012 we hold the Extended ERASMUS Charta (internship placement). Our EUC # is 263078-IC-1-2013-1-DE-ERASMUS-EUCX-1. You can find a copy of our ERASMUS University Charta here.
We are currently applying for the new generation of the ERASMUS program to launch mobility programs for students and staff in winter term 2014 onwards.
Language Requirements
Students interested in studying at hdpk for a degree or as a visiting student should be aware that all our classes are taught in German. If you wish to apply, please make sure to include a proof of sufficient knowledge of German. We accept the following certificates:
- TestDaF (min. score TDN3)
- DSH-2
- Goethe-Zertifikat B2
- Goethe-Zertifikat Deutsch für den Beruf
Certificates from other institutions must show proof of a min. score of B1.2 (CEFR) or equivalent and will be examined by us during admission.
We partner with the online learning platform Deutsche Uni Online (DUO) to provide our international students with high quality, modern German courses for all levels of German. Please contact the International Office, if you are interested to book one of the online courses.

International School Degrees
Applicants who do not hold a German Hochschulzugangsberechtigung must have their documents reviewed by the national agency uni-assist.
Please send uni-assist an officially certified copy of your school certificate or a certified translation thereof in any of the accepted languages (English, French, or German).
Please include the completed hdpk application form. This is important to facilitate efficient communication between the service agency and us.

Visiting Students
hdpk welcomes visiting students from all over the world. Depending on whether you come to us as a Free Mover or through one of our partner programs (ERASMUS or bilateral agreement) different application procedures apply.

Free Mover:
Please fill in the application form in German and include the documentation specified therein.
Please send us your application by June 30th for the winter term (starting in October) and December 31st for the summer term (Starting in April).
We will check your application and will inform you within a month whether you have been accepted.
With our letter of acceptance you will be able to apply for the necessary visa and travel documents.
ERASMUS:
Contact the International Office at your home university to obtain a nomination to study at hdpk Hochschule der populären Künste. They will give you the details about the requirements for participating in the exchange program.
Once nominated by your home university, please prepare the following application documents:
- Application Form
- Current transcript showing your grades and completed coursework
- Copy of your passport
- Curriculum Vitae
- Nomination Letter from your home university
- Proof of German language skills (see details above)
- ERASMUS Learning Agreement / Course Selection Form – please discuss your course choices with the Academic Coordinator at your home university
All application documents must be prepared in German and must be submitted by:
- June 30th for the following winter term
- December 31st for the following summer term
